The Mary Rose Museum

As the world knows, the new Mary Rose Museum has now opened.

For the last 3 years we have been filming the process of development of the whole Mary Rose Museum project. We’ve interviewed designers and architects, engineers and conservators, builders and historians. We were given access where the world’s media was not. And we were commissioned by the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard marketing agency to assist in the creation of the opening ceremony itself.

Project Synopsis

One aspect of this involved us in delivering a huge graphic reveal – a Tudor pennant nearly 50m long draped across the front of the whole museum to be “dropped” in time with a fanfare from the Royal Marines Band Service and split in two to allow the Ship’s Bells to be ceremonially processed into the museum – the last object to be put on display.

We had 2 film crews covering the day-long event too – and delivered b-roll footage for the world’s media as they broadcast to the nation.

The words of a letter we received from the chief executive sum it up,

Your exceptional hard work was more apparent than ever last week with so much activity under way – a spectacular few days after years of preparation… Congratulations to you all.”
