Motivation were asked to run a training exercise for Plas Newydd specifically to asses scripts used for a guided tour and to then provide a training day for volunteers and staff who might take on the role of tour guide.
The day encompassed how to develop themed scripts, how to personalise the content so that each guide could deliver the required information in their own style but with consistency of content and enthusiasm. We also covered presentation and performance techniques with some team based workshops to help open up their imagination and think about what visitors actually want from a guided tour.
The day was seen as a great success – with one volunteer trying to work out how to incorporate “big yellow bananas” into his script – you had to be there!!!
